Rat's
(Rattus rattus)
Colour Brown to grey with a lighter underside.
Ears are large and bare
Nose pointed.
Tail is long scaly.
Gestational period is 3 weeks long - producing a litter size of 8-10 young every Sexual maturity at 3-5 weeks
Life span of approx. 12 months.
Rats are known to spread harmful disease and are extremely unhygienic to have in or around your property.

Mice
(Genus Mus)
Nose is pointed
Ears Large rounded
Tail long and almost hairless.
Bodies less than about 12 cm long.
Gestational period is about 19–21 days.
Litter size of 3–14 young.
Lifespan Usually live less than one year in the wild.
Diseases Mice can sometimes transmit contaminate food, and damage food packaging.

Wasp
(Vespidae)
Size 2cm long.
April to October.
Live span 12–22 days.
Important Pollinators.
Live in large groups.
Nests built of paper.
Food Wasp feed on nectar, rotten fruit and sugary picnics.
Young wasp are fed on small insects.
Queen wasps can live upto 1 year.
Drone wasp live slightly longer but die after mating.

Moles
(Talpidae)
Moles live under ground and create burrows and tunnel networks.
These amazing diggers have little to no vision navigating the tunnels. Mole create a small hill above the ground in order to make space and aerate the tunnels.
Diet consists of worms, arthropods and insects.
Breed period between February and May
Gestation period is approx.. 42 days with 3-5 young born between March and early April.
The damage moles make grounds dangerous for humans and livestock.

Cloths Moths
(Tineidae bisselliella)
Adults have golden wings, which go to the head.
Body length is 6-8mm
Wingspan is 12-17mm
Larva have a brown head and yellowish body and usually hatch between 4-10 days.
Lifespan 1-3 months ( possible to live in the right environment unto 1 year.)
Females lay 40-50 eggs at a time.
Pupa larvae spin a cocoon case, these can be found on clothing.

Feral pigeon
(columbae)
Lifespan 3-5 years
Broods 3-4 per year
Eggs 1-2 per brood
Health issues Pigeons can pass health issues for human breathing difficulties and allergic reactions.
This is caused by pigeon fouling, nest building which contain bacteria, viruses, mites and insects.
The acids in the pigeon foul can also cause damage to buildings if left for long periods of time.

Rabbit
(cuniculus)
Lifespan 3 years
Breeding season February-summer
Gestation period 28-35 days
Kits are between 4-12
Litters per year 2-3
Rabbits can start to breed as young as 2-3 months old.
Rabbits can cause damage to land, if not dealt with.
Pest pickles can offer a traditional management program using ferrets.

Black gardens Ants
(Lasius niger)
Lifespan female workers live between 1-2 years.
A Queen can have a colony of 40000 and live for 29 years.
Breeding season during the summer months, during the hot weather.
Gestational period
Adults dig into the ground and lay their eggs, these eggs take 3-4 weeks.
The larvae then take 5 weeks until they turn into adults.
Off spring 1000 eggs are laid daily during a session.

House flies
Lifespan 15-28 days temperature dependant
Cluster flies
Lifespan 1-3 month, however if they survive winter they can live 2 years.
Eggs are laid in the spring in soil cracks
Larva hatch within a few days, and feed on earthworms for 2 weeks.
Pupa spend 11-14 days in the soil to pupate.
Adults when the pupae emerge they are adult flies.
Winter adult cluster flies seek out warm shelters to spend the winters, these warm places can be attics, lofts, and voids in walls.
Infestations can persists from October-March every year.

Bed bugs
Bed bugs have a 3 stage life cycles.
Eggs stage, 10-50 tiny white eggs are laid in a cluster. these can be found attached to furnisher and fittings in cracks and crevices. The female before hatching will require a blood meal.
Nymph, these are smaller than the adults however they do not have a wing bud. each stage of Nymph required a moult and the bed bug will need a blood meal first. Nymphs are able to live weeks without feeding.
Adult stage, Depending on the temperatures and the blood meals available an adult bed bug can live upto 1 year and in cool conditions they can go without a meal for a year.
Bed bugs are incredibly good at hiding, multiplying and feeding which is why when bed bugs are seen in, professional management is highly recommended.

Silver fish
(Lepisma saccharina)
Length 12 mm
Lifespan 2-3 years during this time they moult several times.
Silver fish can be found in damp corner of houses with kitchen and bathrooms being the most common rooms to find silver fish.
Eggs stage 100 eggs are laid either singly or in groups, these will be laid in cracks or crevices by gluing them in place.
Hatching takes 2-8 weeks
Nymph to adult takes 4-6 weeks.

Adult size 11-16mm long
A single female German cockroach can spawn tens of thousands of descendants in one year
American cockroach
